AsThe regulatory environment for AI is no longer abstract. The EU AI Act is in force. DORA is reshaping how financial institutions govern digital and AI-related operational resilience. NIS2 is expanding cybersecurity obligations across critical sectors. And the pace of regulatory development is accelerating faster than most board governance frameworks were designed to handle.
For boards, this creates a dual challenge. On one side, a rapidly expanding compliance landscape that requires structured oversight of AI ethics, transparency, and regulatory alignment — across jurisdictions, across business functions, and increasingly across the ecosystem of vendors and partners through which AI is delivered. On the other, a cybersecurity threat environment in which AI is simultaneously a tool for defence and a vector for attack — and where the consequences of poor board-level oversight can move from risk register to crisis faster than any traditional framework was built to manage.
This session brings together two practitioners who work at the sharp end of both challenges — one specialising in AI governance architecture and regulatory compliance, including direct experience contributing to the EU AI Act, and one bringing a decade of experience leading digital and cybersecurity strategy at the highest level of a global organisation.
Together they will help board directors understand not just what the regulation requires, but what genuine AI supervision looks like — across ethics, cyber resilience, and ecosystem compliance.
The discussion will address how boards can:
- Understand the governance obligations created by the EU AI Act, DORA, NIS2, and emerging digital regulation — and what board-level oversight of compliance actually requires
- Supervise AI ethics and transparency without becoming operational — the frameworks that work in practice
- Govern cyber resilience in an AI era — where AI both expands the attack surface and enables new forms of defence
- Ensure compliance across ecosystems of vendors, platforms, and partners — including audit rights, data sovereignty, and incident notification obligations
- Ask the questions that reveal where AI risk and regulatory exposure are actually accumulating — before they become crises
