Boards as AI Enablers β€” Guiding Data, Innovation and Ecosystems

πŸ“… 29 October 2026 | 08:00 – 09:30 CET | Online

This webinar is part of the Boards Oversight of Responsible AI for Value Creation program by Boards Impact Forum. Attendance is exclusively for registered and enrolled participants.

The potential of AI is no longer in question. Across industries, the conviction that AI will reshape business models, competitive dynamics, and value creation is now widely shared. And yet most organisations are still struggling to demonstrate a clear return on their AI investments. The gap between recognising AI’s potential and actually guiding its development toward sustainable value is where the real governance challenge lies β€” and it is squarely a board-level responsibility.

This is not a session about what AI can do. It is about what boards must do to guide the translation of AI potential into real organisational capability β€” across three critical dimensions that define whether AI investment actually delivers: data governance, AI-enabled innovation including the rapidly evolving world of agentic AI, and the ecosystems of partners, platforms, and vendors through which AI is increasingly built and delivered.

Most boards can articulate the promise of AI. Far fewer have the frameworks to guide its development, challenge management on the ROI gap, or govern the complex ecosystem dependencies that now sit beneath every significant AI initiative. That is the gap this session addresses.

Boards that understand these three dimensions are the ones best positioned to ask the questions that matter, challenge management constructively, and ensure their organisations do not just invest in AI β€” but actually harvest its value.

The discussion will address how boards can:

  • Understand why the ROI gap exists and what board-level guidance can do to close it
  • Move from passive awareness to active guidance on data strategy β€” the foundation on which all AI value depends
  • Govern AI-enabled innovation, including agentic AI systems that operate with increasing autonomy and require a new kind of board oversight
  • Ask the right questions about ecosystems β€” the platforms, partners, vendors, and data relationships through which AI is actually delivered
  • Build the collective literacy needed to guide management through AI-driven transformation without overstepping the board’s distinct role

Insights from this session contribute to Boards Impact Forum’s ongoing research on how boards can strengthen their strategic AI leadership capabilities across Europe and beyond.
