Governing Strategy in Uncertain Times:

Foresight, Geopolitics and Sustainability in the Boardroom

Boards Impact Forum and Chapter Zero Netherlands are pleased to host the first webinar in the European Boards Growth & Resilience Series, developed in collaboration with the Chapter Zero Alliance and several European Chapters, namelly Chapter Zero France, Chapter Zero Brussels and Climate Governance Initiative Greece.

Boards today operate in an environment shaped by systemic disruptions, including geopolitical fragmentation, technological shifts, climate transition pressures and changing stakeholder expectations. These forces are transforming markets, supply chains and strategic priorities across industries. In this context, the role of supervisory boards is evolving rapidly. Board leadership today requires not only oversight of risk but also the ability to guide strategic direction under uncertainty.

This session, taking place on the 7th of April at 8:00 to 9:30 am CET, focuses on the Strategy principle of the Chapter Zero Alliance governance principles and explores how boards can integrate foresight, geopolitical dynamics and sustainability considerations into long-term strategy.

The discussion will address how supervisory boards can:

  • Embed climate and nature considerations into long-term strategy
  • Use foresight and scenario thinking to test the resilience of business models
  • Understand geopolitical shifts and strategic dependencies affecting European competitiveness
  • Align purpose, innovation and sustainability with long-term value creation

The webinar will feature insights from governance experts and board leaders and will be moderated by Liselotte Engstam, Chair of Boards Impact Forum.
